I was born in 1942 in Lancashire. From the age of 6 I lived in Newcastle Upon Tyne, and in 1965 moved with my husband to Billericay in Essex where I still live. I worked for 34 years as a Civil Servant during which time I enjoyed many textile related hobbies – knitting, crochet, dress-making, tailoring, lace-making and embroidery.

Since early retirement, I have developed my passion for textile, now using it as an art medium. I spent four years completing City and Guilds Embroidery Parts I and II and, simultaneously, an Art and Design Foundation course. I then studied for six years with the Opus School of Textile Art and in 2005 was awarded a first class honours degree - BA (Hons) Embroidered Textiles - by Middlesex University. I continue to be a member of 'Prism' which was linked to the Opus school and is now an independent exhibiting group.

In 2005 I was accepted by the Society of Designer Craftsmen as a merit Licentiate, and, at their 2006 exhibition, shared their prize 'The TSB Award for Excellence' and was made a full member of the Society.

I am also a member of 'Quintus' - a group of five contemporary mixed media artists who studied together, and now continue to develop their art and exhibit together.

My work is currently shown at the Snape Maltings Gallery in Suffolk and at the New Art gallery in Barleylands Craft Village, Billericay, Exssex.
